Mobil Corporation Donates Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor Oil To Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department
WASHINGTON, D.C.--Aug. 30, 1999--Mobil Corporation announced today a donation of more than 3,535 gallons of its top-of-the-line Mobil 1(R) Synthetic Motor Oil to the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. (MPD). The supply has a retail value of $51,300.00. Mobil made a similar donation to the MPD in 1997."Mobil is honored that our premier motor oil will be helping the District extend its investment in police department vehicles" said Brian Baker, president of Mobil's North American Marketing and Refining. "With more patrol cars on the street and fewer in need of maintenance, we are hopeful that the entire community will benefit from the sustained performance that Mobil 1 guarantees."
"This extremely generous donation is greatly appreciated. The department has been most fortunate to have the support of community minded corporations such as Mobil," said Terrance W. Gainer, Executive Assistant Chief of Police.
"We would also like to extend our gratitude to Caliber Logistics of Hudson, Ohio, for transporting the entire supply of Mobil 1 from the Mobil warehouse in Highlands, Texas, to Washington, D.C. This endeavor would not have been possible without Caliber's support, assistance and involvement."
"Caliber Logistics has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Mobil Corporation and is pleased to offer, as a donation, its expertise in transportation management and logistics to such a worthy cause as the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington D.C.," said Robert Nicholson, Managing Director of Marketing, Communications and Customer Service for Caliber Logistics.
The donated oil - a mix of 5W30 and 10W30 Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic formula -- will provide a level of performance and protection for the Washington, D.C. police cars which exceeds the API (American Petroleum Institute) performance level as defined for the API SH/CD Service Category.
