Avis Selects FileNET Panagon-Based Web Content Management Solution From IMC To Enhance Customer Service and Productivity for Insurance Claims Handling

    COSTA MESA, Calif.--Aug. 30, 1999--

IDC Survey Reports FileNET as Workflow Market Leader

FileNET Corp. and Information Management Consultants Inc. (IMC) Monday announced that Avis Rent A Car Systems Inc. , one of the leading car rental companies in the world, will deploy a FileNET Panagon(TM)-based Web content management solution for handling rental car insurance claims.
IMC will design, develop and install the FileNET content management system that will allow Avis, with a fleet of approximately 205,000 vehicles and more than $2.3 billion in revenue, to more effectively manage insurance claims associated with the approximately 15 million rental transactions that the company completes annually.
The new system will also provide Avis service representatives with more accurate status data and allow managers to constantly refine business processes to increase productivity.
Avis awarded IMC this major contract for a Panagon Visual WorkFlo(R) solution to automate key business processes in the company's claims processing and master rental agreement business areas. Avis will also take advantage of Panagon's document imaging and Web content management capabilities to enable Avis users to access documents via the enterprise intranet.
"Historically, claims have taken up to six weeks or longer to be processed. By working with IMC to develop a solution that meets our industry-specific needs, we expect to reduce this time to approximately three days," said Nancy Corrado, technical manager of enterprise networking at Avis.
"In addition to greatly improving internal processes, this new claims management solution offers us the ability to quickly respond to our customers' needs with accurate and timely information."
"IMC is excited to implement applications using the proven FileNET Panagon software platform," said Getachew Worku, insurance practice manager at IMC.
"We are also pleased to note that Avis has expanded the scope of the engagement to include the Vehicle Damage Control Department, thereby further leveraging Panagon software to improve productivity. As claims management is one of IMC's focus areas in the insurance industry, it will serve Avis in architecting an efficient application suite.
"The final implementation will be a seamlessly integrated solution serving the various departments both in the New York world headquarters and Virginia Beach offices."
"Panagon Visual WorkFlo offers a tightly integrated application that enables companies like Avis to leverage the content management capabilities of a Panagon-powered solution to streamline business processes. This helps improve productivity and, most importantly, enables Avis to deliver higher levels of customer service," said Fred Monjazeb, vice president, world wide channel sales and marketing at FileNET.
"Working with customers like Avis, we have developed tailored solutions that have made us the leader in the workflow market."

    Workflow Market Leadership

FileNET's leadership position in the workflow software arena was recently recognized by Framingham, Mass.-based industry research firm International Data Corp. (IDC). According to an IDC report titled, "State of the Workflow Management Market, 1998-2003," FileNET is the overall market leader, capturing the largest percentage of the total workflow management market in 1998.
The new installation at Avis is an example of the strong customer acceptance and rapid channel adoption of Panagon IDM software. Since it was introduced to the market 15 months ago, FileNET has sold more than 333,000 seats of Panagon software worldwide, and its partners have developed more than 200 Panagon-based solutions.
Panagon IDM software is an integrated suite of component software that allows users to easily manage the content of any document from any desktop and then put those documents to work using document-centric, graphical workflow processes.
