NHRA FMDRS: Friday qualifying is stopped due to rain and humidity at Cecil County Dragway

     Rising Sun, Md.- After several rounds of cars had successfully run
qualifying and time trails on Friday, the dark clouds finally released a
rainstorm during the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series at Cecil County
Dragway.
     Racing was put on hold at around 6:40 p.m. as NHRA staff and Cecil
County Dragway staff tried to wait the storm out.  But after several
attempts to dry the track in the hour and a half after, several more
downpours made that task impossible.  
     Fans who purchased their tickets for Friday's race can use their
ticket stubs as a rain-check Saturday.
     Racing will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. with Federal-Mogul Dragster
and Funny Car qualifying at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  Jet dragsters and a
full show in addition to the NHRA event will follow Saturday night.



     The following are the first day qualifying results from the NHRA
Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series event at Cecil County Dragway, the last of
six events in the NHRA Northeast Division:
