Collins & Aikman Names Serge Thomas Vice President of Finance for North American Division

    TROY, Mich., Aug. 27 -- Collins & Aikman Corporation
today named Serge Thomas as Vice President of Finance for the
Company's North American Automotive Interior Systems Division.  The
announcement was made by Dennis Hiller, President of the North American
Automotive Interior Systems Division of Collins & Aikman Corporation.
    "Thomas is a great addition to our Interior Systems Division," Hiller
said.  "His balance of experience in both finance and operations will be
extremely beneficial as we continue to enhance the performance of the North
American Interiors Division."
    Thomas joins Collins & Aikman from MascoTech Inc., where he served as Vice
President of Administration for the past eight years.  Prior to that position,
he was group controller.  Thomas is a C.P.A. who has more than 20 years of
experience in finance and administrative positions.
