Arvin Expands in Eastern Europe

    COLUMBUS, Ind.--Aug. 26, 1999--Arvin Industries, Inc. , today announced that it has entered into a joint venture agreement which establishes an Arvin Exhaust operation in the Czech Republic. Arvin owns 66% of the newly created entity, Arvin Exhaust, s.r.o. The minority owner is KARSIT, s.r.o.
    Arvin Exhaust, s.r.o will supply the Volkswagen facility in the Czech Republic with exhaust systems for the Skoda models. Arvin Exhaust President Wesley B. Vance said, "This operation supports our strategy of supplying our customers globally and partnering with local expertise to best serve the automotive manufacturers. We are delighted with the opportunity to partner with KARSIT in supplying Volkswagen business and look for the KARSIT relationship to continue to develop as Arvin seeks more exhaust supply in the Eastern European region."
    Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
    KARSIT is a Czech Republic manufacturer that supplies metal seats and exhaust systems for the automotive industry.
