York, PA Family Starts New Business As Tilden For Brakes Car Care Centers Franchise

YORK, Pa.--Aug. 26, 1999--Automotive service in York, Pennsylvania, has a new quality name with a 75-year reputation.
The Hunter Family of York, Penn., has opened the first Pennsylvania franchise of Tilden For Brakes Car Care Centers. Tilden Associates, Inc. (OTC BB:TLDN), which operates under the name Tilden for Brakes Car Care Centers, provides complete automotive service and repairs. The new Hunter family facility is located at 3300 Market Street at Mt. Zion Road in York County.
The Tilden franchise is truly a family affair. Husband LeRoy Hunter is the chief mechanic with 20 years of experience in automotive service. Virginia Hunter, newly retired from teaching in the York City School district, is office manager. Son Christian, who recently completed Law School, supervises the operations. Daughter Jennyfir, a youth counselor, and daughter-in-law Susan, a nurse, help on weekends.
"Starting this new business is a labor of love for us," said Virginia Hunter. My husband and I have a great love for cars and now we have turned this love into a viable family enterprise. The York Tilden for Brakes Car Care Center can be reached at 717/840-1366.
Tilden For Brakes Car Care Centers was also started as a family enterprise in 1923 by the Tilden family of Long Island, New York. As business grew, the family offered franchise opportunities to dedicated employees. Now Tilden is expanding nationally, both by acquisitions and through franchises, thus far establishing 56 car care centers in 11 states.
The new Pennsylvania center is already in operation but will be having its grand opening in mid-September, "ready with the latest technology for total car service," notes LeRoy Hunter. "We are equipped to offer official PA vehicle inspection and truck rentals, including moving vans and as a special service, 10% discount on car service repairs to Senior Citizens. We want the public to think of us first for their automotive needs."
Tilden Associates, Inc. reported gross earnings of $1,041,534 for 1998 with net income reaching $174,549, versus a loss of $281,994 for the previous year, both results impacted from expansion and acquisitions.
The company has an open invitation for Market Development Partners and individual franchises to share in their successful enterprise. Information may be obtained by contacting Tilden at 1/800/TILDENS or visiting their website at www.tildencarcare.com
