Federal-Mogul Announces Resignation of Alan C. Johnson, Executive Vice President, Powertrain Systems
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 25 -- Dick Snell, chairman and chief
executive officer of Federal-Mogul Corporation announced today
that Alan C. Johnson has resigned to become the President and Chief Operating
Officer of Exide Corporation.  He had been executive vice president,
Powertrain Systems.
    "I'm glad to see an executive of Alan's stature with the opportunity to
run a major auto parts supplier," said Snell.  "Alan's 30-year career with
Federal-Mogul has been exemplary.  His move to Exide will be a loss, but all
of his many friends here wish him great success."
    With this change, Michael C. Verwilst, vice president, Powertrain Systems
-- America, and David Krohn, vice president, Worldwide Ignition Products, will
report directly to Gordon A. Ulsh, president and chief operating officer.
