Tenneco Automotive Names David Gabriel Senior Vice President and General Manager for North American Aftermarket

    LAKE FOREST, Ill.--Aug. 24, 1999--Tenneco Automotive has named David Gabriel senior vice president and general manager for Tenneco Automotive's North American aftermarket business unit. Among the business unit's best known global brand names are Monroe(R) ride control and Walker(R) exhaust products. Tenneco Automotive makes nearly half of all shock absorbers and one third of all mufflers in the world annually, many distributed through aftermarket channels.
    In his new position, Gabriel will have full operational control and profit and loss responsibility for the North American business unit's marketing, selling, engineering, manufacturing and distribution functions. He will report to Tenneco Automotive President Mark P. Frissora.
    Gabriel joined Tenneco Automotive in March 1997 and most recently was vice president - operations for the North American aftermarket. Prior to that he rose through positions of increasing responsibility during 15 years in manufacturing, distribution and logistics with Johnson & Johnson and the Pepsi Cola Company.
    "Tenneco Automotive is extremely fortunate to have an individual with Dave's leadership ability and experience lead our North American aftermarket team," Frissora said. Gabriel will be based at Tenneco Automotive's worldwide headquarters in Lake Forest, Ill.
    Gabriel earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Michigan State University.
