SDRC and HP Establish Strategic PDM Business Alliance in Japan

SDRC and HP to Open Metaphase(R) Solution Center, Extending
the Commitment and Support of Enterprise Product Data
Management to Japanese Manufacturers

    SDRC , a leading global supplier of enterprise product development solutions and developer of I-DEAS(R) and Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) software, and Hewlett-Packard Company announce plans to open a Metaphase Solution Center in Japan. The Center will initially focus on the needs of automotive and electronics OEMs, including their respective supply chains, to offer customized solutions that address the business objectives of these manufacturers in Japan. Companies who will benefit most are those who understand the value in harnessing the power of intellectual capital to drive product innovation -- critical for companies who want to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.
    The Metaphase Solution Center will open within SDRC's offices in Tokyo with plans to expand to other locations worldwide. The Center will provide a complete hardware and software environment for customer evaluation of latest technologies. Jointly staffed by SDRC and HP employees with expertise in supporting information management requirements, the goals are to offer a collaborative environment for developing industry- specific best practices and methodologies to customers and business partners of both SDRC and HP, to facilitate OEM and supply chain implementation and training, and to host total solution presentations and demonstrations.
    SDRC enjoys a well-established customer base in Japan in both the automotive and electronics industries, including leading automotive accounts such as Hino Motors, Mazda, Nissan, and Toyota, as well as marquis electronics accounts such as Fuji Xerox, Hitachi, Matsushita, Minolta, OKI, Toshiba, and Seiko Epson. SDRC and HP will focus on the diverse enterprise product data management needs of these target industries, with the objective to facilitate a product development process that is more efficient, productive, and reliable and that supports the needs of Japanese manufacturers.
