the Metal Cable Tray Systems Standard Released

24 August 1999

Global Engineering Documents and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association Announce the Release of the Metal Cable Tray Systems Standard

ROSSLYN, Va.--Aug. 24, 1999--NEMA, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, in cooperation with Global Engineering Documents, the world's leading distributor of industry, U.S. and International standards, announces the release of its Metal Cable Tray Systems, VE 1-1998, standard. Available for immediate delivery through Global, VE 1-1998 provides technical requirements concerning the construction, testing, and performance of metal cable tray systems.
Throughout the standard, test methods and performance values relate as closely as possible to end-use applications. VE 1 encourages the manufacture and use of standardized metal cable tray systems and tries to eliminate misunderstandings between manufacturers and users.
"This is the first joint effort of NEMA and CSA to put in one place standards for metal trays per both NEMA and CSA methods," said Raymond Colgrove, Product Engineer Manager, Cable Tray Division of MP Husky Corporation. "This is a collaboration of efforts between the United States and Canada to place technical and testing requirements all in one place."
George Dauberger, Director, Technical Liaison, of Thomas & Betts Corporation, noted, "Combining the documents has created harmonization between the U.S. and Canada -- the content within both documents remains the same, but now it appears all in one document for easy reference. This is very significant from a U.S. standpoint." The publication of this standard, he says, is the result of a couple years of work to produce an integrated, bi-national standard.
