IHS Engineering Releases Comprehensive Standards Management Tool

    ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--Aug. 24, 1999--

Tech Data Xpress is the World's First Electronic Standards
Resource Allowing Engineers and Technical Professionals to Speed
Locating and Tracking Standards by Project

IHS Engineering, a leading engineering and technical information publisher, and Global Engineering Documents, the world's leading distributor of industry, government, U.S., and international standards, today announced the availability of Tech Data Xpress (TDX), a comprehensive new Internet service that allows engineers and technical professionals to significantly reduce time spent searching for standards data.
TDX contains bibliographic data on more than 350,000 standards from over 450 of the world's leading standards developers, including AFNOR, ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, BSI, DIN, IEC, ISO, SAE, UL and the U.S. Military. In addition to searching for standards, users of TDX can also obtain full standards documents in a variety of formats, meeting individual usage and budget needs.
"TDX is the world's most user-focused standards resource available," said Robert Wing, CEO of IHS Engineering. "It not only provides immediate access to standards formatted to meet the end user's needs, but also helps manage standards usage and activity. TDX is the only resource available that will meet individual customer requirements, such as ISO 9000 adherence."
Through TDX, designers, engineers and other technical professionals are now able to locate and manage the standards information needed to define testing and design requirements, implement quality programs, compete globally and cost-effectively complete their tasks.
TDX is the only electronic standards resource that allows users to track documents for a specific project within file folders. This feature makes proposal and project management more streamlined and accurate. TDX also includes an automatic update feature that notifies users by e-mail when specific standards are updated.
Users of TDX can search for standards on the World Wide Web. They can locate documents by title/abstract keywords, document number, subject, organization, publication date, geographic source and ICS classification. Abstract information on selected standards can be immediately reviewed. Actual standards can be downloaded electronically, ordered in hardcopy, or viewed and printed in electronic image format.
TDX has a variety of pricing and delivery options designed to meet the usage and environmental requirements of each customer. It is available for a single simultaneous user for as little as $595 per year. Customers are also able to select document delivery options to meet usage needs. Single documents and complete document collections are also available. More information on TDX is available on the IHS Engineering Web site (www.ihsengineering.com).
