Mannesmann Arcor Plans Acquisition of Majority Holding in ISIS
DUESSELDORF, Germany, Aug. 24 -- Mannesmann Arcor plans to
acquire a 64.9% stake in the Duesseldorf-based ISIS Multimedia Net GmbH. An
agreement to this effect was reached today. The planned acquisition has still
to be ratified by the respective supervisory boards and the various
authorities responsible.
In addition to Mannesmann Arcor, the future owners of the company will be
the city utilities of Duesseldorf (17.5 %), Duisburg (5 %) and Neuss (2.6 %)
as well as WestLB (10 %).
With this planned acquisition, Mannesmann Arcor will be increasing its
market development in terms of direct customer access in the Rhine-Ruhr area
substantially. In line with present strategy, Mannesmann Arcor and ISIS will
be offering customers in the Rhine-Ruhr area a full range of products and
services, including local, regional and long-distance calls in addition to
Internet access. This will further stimulate competition in regard to direct
customer access.
ISIS, the leading city carrier in the Rhine-Ruhr area, posted sales of
24m euro in 1998.
