Consumers Can Instantly Book Service Appointments With Autoweb.com Service
                                    Center

    SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 24 -- Autoweb.com ,
the leading consumer automotive Internet service, announced today the first
real-time Internet vehicle service center. Autoweb.com, expanding its role as
a trusted online automotive intermediary, gives consumers the unique,
convenient ability to instantly set service appointments with their local
automotive technician -- without ever making a phone call. By clicking onto
the Autoweb.com Service Center, consumers will be able to schedule their
vehicle's maintenance through the nation's top automobile dealer and retail
service repair facilities.
"This precedent-setting solution is the first complete online vehicle
maintenance service available to consumers," said Dean DeBiase, president and
CEO of Autoweb.com. "Finally, there is a centralized place to learn more
about vehicle maintenance, make educated choices and eliminate the hassle of
scheduling maintenance or repairs. Our recent launch of Autoweb.com's
direct-to-consumer channel combined with our real-time Service Center,
demonstrates our commitment to making every stage of vehicle ownership as
painless as possible."
In a recent online survey of over 11,000 Autoweb.com site visitors,
65 percent of respondents nationwide said they would prefer to set vehicle
service appointments online. The first of its kind, the Autoweb.com Service
Center will provide consumers with an option to research vehicle maintenance
needs and obtain repair data. Car owners can choose from automobile dealer
and retail service centers as well as independent shops.
Starting today, consumers can begin their online vehicle maintenance in
the greater Atlanta area by setting an appointment time with the service
provider of their choice. Additional major metropolitan areas are scheduled
for rollout later this year. Autoweb.com Service Center customers will
receive an email confirmation the day the appointment is set with a list of
the services desired and the time and date of scheduled maintenance. In
addition, a reminder email will be sent to the customer 24 hours before their
appointment.
"Autoweb.com is pleased to enhance our service partners' access to the
Internet consumer," said Michael Rose, product manager of Autoweb.com Service
Center. "In addition, we are helping them focus on vehicle repair work by
relieving them from time-consuming phone calls."
