UAW-Ford Members Approve Strike AuthorizationDETROIT, Aug. 23 -- UAW members at Ford Motor Company have voted by a 96.4 percent majority to authorize the UAW International Executive Board to call a strike against Ford if deemed necessary. Holding a strike authorization vote in advance of the expiration of a collective bargaining agreement is standard UAW procedure. "The tremendous turnout and overwhelming majority vote clearly reflect the solidarity and unity of the UAW-Ford membership across America," said UAW Vice President Ron Gettelfinger, who directs the UAW Ford Department. The UAW represents approximately 101,000 production and skilled trades workers at Ford facilities in the U.S.
