Robby Gordon #22 Johns Manville/Panasonic/Menards Toyota-Eagle Race Notes/Quotes Sunday, August 22, 1999 TARGET GRAND PRIX OF CHICAGO Round 15 of 20 in the CART FedEx Championship Series Chicago Motor Speedway - Cicero, Ill. Robby Gordon ran a strong and patient race, bringing his Toyota-powered Eagle home 10th in Sunday's Target Grand Prix of Chicago. The top-10 finish was Gordon's second in a row and fifth of the 1999 season. It also marked the third different chassis Gordon has scored a top 10 with this year (eighth in Japan with a Reynard; eighth at Cleveland, ninth at Elkhart Lake and 10th at Mid-Ohio in a Swift; 10th here in Chicago with the Eagle). Gordon now has 20 points in his first season as an owner-driver -- seven more than his total last year with Arciero-Wells Racing. Team Gordon now enjoys a weekend off before heading to Vancouver for the Sept. 5 Molson Indy. Quotes ROBBY GORDON "The Gurney guys did a great job and so did our guys. No matter what kind of obstacle I throw at them, whether it be a Swift, Reynard or Eagle, they always make sure it's bulletproof. Our weekend was up and down, but we left here with some points and that's what counts. I think we've climbed to within a point of being the top Toyota, which was a goal of ours from the beginning of the season. The car had some push in it in the corners, but it would come around for me as the runs went longer. By the end of the race, we had worked the tire pressures and the car was fast. I feel good right now. It's nice to wrap up this trip with two top 10s in a row. I also want to thank Dan Gurney. He went out on a limb for us and made this experience as easy as possible. Both Eagles scored points today. That's something to talk about." MIKE HELD (Team Gordon co-owner) "I'm proud to be an owner today, We overcame a lot of learning curves this weekend, and look what we've walked away with -- points. Points make us all feel good. Robby ran a patient race and a fast race toward the end. I'm excited to leave here with a smile." BRAD FILBEY (Crew Chief) "I have to thank Dan first. He made this transition to the new chassis as simple as possible. After that, I give a ton of credit to the guys. They put another good car under Robby. They're probably the most well-rounded mechanics in the paddock after working on so many cars! But seriously, to pull off a 10th place with a car they'd never seen before Wednesday is pretty impressive."
