Lincoln LS Order Banks Full for YearIRVINE, Calif., Aug. 19 -- Just two and a half months after launch, the new Lincoln LS is "sold out" with dealers placing orders for the entire projected 1999 production of Lincoln LS sedans. Since June 1, dealers have ordered over 30,000 vehicles, matching the company's planned projection for the year. "We are delighted to have all of this year's production taken by dealers this early in the launch. Consumers are clamoring for the Lincoln LS and our dealers are running to keep it in supply," says Jim Rogers, Lincoln Mercury general marketing manager. "Our goal from the beginning was to provide our dealers and customers alike, with an American-built, driver-oriented, luxury sports sedan." As an all-new entry into the fast-growing luxury sports sedan segment, the Lincoln LS is designed to target the contemporary luxury buyer. "The reason we have achieved so many orders so early is that we are reaching out and attracting a new kind of customer to Lincoln with performance, comfort and a price that will surprise," Rogers goes on to say. "We have not been able to keep the cars on the lot. The Lincoln LS is truly a world class driving vehicle. The fact that we have orders for 30,000 speaks for itself," said Ramon Alvarez, president, Riverside Lincoln Mercury in Riverside, California. The Lincoln LS with a V-8 has a starting price of $35,225, thousands of dollars less than competitive V-8 luxury sedans; the LS with a V-6 and automatic transmission starts at $31,450; and the LS V-6 with a five speed manual and standard sport package starts at $32,250. All prices include $535 in destination and delivery charges. Lincoln Mercury headquarters is based in Irvine, California, where they market a full line of Lincoln and Mercury products. The Lincoln product line includes Town Car, Navigator, Continental and LS. The Mercury product line includes Cougar, Sable, Grand Marquis, Mountaineer, Villager and Mystique.
