Axius(TM) Announces Voluntary Withdrawal of Its 6 In. Deluxe Vehicle FansMOORPARK, Calif., Aug. 18 -- Axius, America's leading marketer of automotive window sun protection products and automotive accessories, announced today that it is voluntarily withdrawing its 6 in. Deluxe Fans. The fan is intended solely for use in automotive vehicle interiors. The company is immediately withdrawing the products because it recently learned that, under certain circumstances, the fans overheated. With nearly 450,000 of these fans sold since 1997, there have been only 12 reports of overheating. No consumer injuries have been reported. CONSUMER INSTRUCTIONS: -- Consumers who have purchased the Axius(TM) 6 in. Deluxe Fan should stop using the fan immediately. -- Consumers should call the Axius Toll-Free Consumer Information Line to obtain instructions on how to return the fans to Axius and to receive a coupon good for a new fan or other Axius(TM) products. The toll- free number, 888-511-4158, operates 24 hours each day, seven days a week. -- Consumers should not use or throw away Axius(TM) 6 in. Deluxe. The company has contacted its retailers and distributors to inform them of the voluntary product withdrawal, ask for their assistance in removing Axius(TM) 6 in. Deluxe Fans from their retail outlets and warehouses, and arrange for the return of the product to Axius. Axius has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) about this matter.
