Metallic Power Expands Staff to Handle Continued Growth; Company Hires Director of Marketing
SAN DIEGO--Aug. 17, 1999--Metallic Power Inc., the leader in developing rapidly refuelable power sources that reuse zinc, continues to strengthen its management team by hiring Margaret Deardorf as director of marketing."We are excited to add Margaret Deardorf to our growing team of technical professionals," said Dr. Jeff Colborn, chief executive officer of Metallic Power. As director of marketing at Metallic Power, Deardorf's responsibilities include marketing communications, marketing research, product development, customer relations and management support.
Prior to joining Metallic Power, Deardorf served as director of product management at Sensormatic Corp., where she was responsible for product marketing, marketing communications, customer service, technical support and technical documentation. She also managed forecasting groups of a $100 million division and led a cross-functional team to develop more than 30 new OEM versions of video products in six months. She also held product marketing and product management positions at Intermec Corp., OPW Fueling Components and Monarch Marking, where she was instrumental in developing, organizing and conducting strategic marketing plans. While at OPW, Deardorf coordinated product development and marketing activities for $30 million Environmental and Vapor Recovery product groups.
As a versatile, experienced marketing professional, Deardorf has launched numerous products for organizations that have gained leadership positions in market share, and in revenue and profit contributions. She has extensive experience in all forms of product distribution and promotion, as well as being an accomplished and motivational public speaker. While at Monarch Marking Systems, her project team was named Pitney Bowes' corporate "One Standard -- Excellence" winner. She holds a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Dayton, Ohio.
Metallic Power, whose management includes authors of some 300 technical papers, a leading world expert in zinc/air technology, and PhDs in a variety of relevant fields, is currently in its second round of venture capital funding.
