Collins & Aikman Earns Automotive Industries Quest for Excellence Award
    DETROIT, Aug. 13 -- Collins & Aikman Corporation
has earned a Quest for Excellence award in the Interiors category from the
trade magazine Automotive Industries.
    "We are particularly honored by this award because it comes from our
customers, who have recognized our excellent quality and service," said Thomas
E. Evans, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Collins & Aikman.  "We
believe this award reflects the success of our continuing effort to provide
our customers with industry leading interior acoustics, styling and design."
    The prestigious Quest for Excellence award is the only quality recognition
program in the automotive industry that is determined by supplier ratings from
their customers.  About 1,800 Automotive Industries readers, involved in
design, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and management, evaluated their
suppliers in five areas:  quality, price, innovation, delivery and service.
Automotive Industries and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP conducted the survey.
