Cascade Corp. Announces Promotion of Terry H. Cathey and Kurt G. Wollenberg

    PORTLAND, Ore.--Aug. 13, 1999--Robert C. Warren, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Cascade Corporation, announced today that Terry H. Cathey has been named Senior Vice President - Americas and Kurt G. Wollenberg has been named Senior Vice President - Finance and Treasurer. Cathey was previously Vice President - Operations and Wollenberg was Vice President - Finance and Treasurer. Cathey will be responsible for all of the company's North and South American operations. Wollenberg continues as Chief Financial Officer.
    Warren noted that this move is part of a continuing process of fine tuning Cascade's executive management structure.
    "Broadening Terry Cathey's responsibilities to include marketing efforts in our North and South American markets is the next logical step in our effort to focus on customer satisfaction," Warren said. "Coordination of our efforts under a single executive in each geographical area of emphasis will result in greater efficiency."
