Meritor Names Jerry Rush Senior Director, Public AffairsTROY, Mich., Aug. 13 -- Meritor Automotive Inc. today announced that Jerry Rush has been named senior director of public affairs, reporting to Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Gary Collins. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990813/DEF012 ) In this new role, Rush will be responsible for planning and implementing state, federal and international public affairs strategies supporting Meritor and its business units. "Jerry's understanding of legislative issues impacting Meritor and the automotive industry, combined with his experience in working with members of Congress, state legislators and government officials are essential to Meritor as we pursue our aggressive growth strategies on a worldwide basis," said Gary Collins. "We look forward to Jerry's further contributions in advancing Meritor's positions on public policy." Rush most recently served as senior director, internal communications and governmental affairs for Meritor. Prior to that he served as director, Federal and State Government Relations, based in Washington, D.C. representing Rockwell's Automotive and Automation businesses. In addition, he has served in a number of communications and public affairs roles on behalf of Meritor, based at its World Headquarters in Troy, Mich. and in various human resources and communication capacities at Meritor's trailer products facility in Kenton, Ohio. Rush holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Ohio State University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Dayton, in Dayton, Ohio. He is a member of the Public Affairs Steering Committee of the National Association of Manufacturers, a Washington representative to the U.S. Business Roundtable and a director of the Troy Chamber of Commerce.
