Frontier Corporation and Frontier Cellular are `revved up' to sponsor the "Frontier at the Glen" NASCAR Winston Cup Series event at Watkins Glen International this weekend, August 12 - 15, 1999 in Watkins Glen, NY.
"This partnership among Frontier, Frontier Cellular and Watkins Glen is a perfect fit," said Joseph P.Clayton, Frontier Communications chief executive officer. "Frontier's communications services are fast, focused and on the cutting edge. Those same traits have characterized NASCAR racing for many years. We're proud to be affiliated with Watkins Glen and the Winston Cup Series."
NASCAR Winston Cup racing is one of the nation's fastest-growing spectator sports. Watkins Glen International will attract over 170,000 people from across the country and Canada for the "Frontier at the Glen" weekend.
"Frontier's national position as a dynamic, leading-edge company makes it an especially attractive business partner for Watkins Glen. The fact that Frontier is based in New York state makes it even better," said Watkins Glen President, Bryan R. Sperber. "Frontier's status as a premier sponsor at Watkins Glen underscores the motorsports fan as a communications savvy demographic and will certainly bring attention to the growing fan base that NASCAR has attracted."
This event complements Frontier's other sports-marketing ventures including the national college basketball player and coach of the year awards, in addition to the naming rights at Frontier Field in Rochester. In the past, Frontier has also sponsored PGA Tour golfer Corey Pavin. Specific details about the "Frontier at the Glen" agreement were not disclosed.
