Best-Ever July Sales Reported By Toyota's Kansas City Region
    KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 12 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region
posted its best-ever July Car sales of 2,835, a 12 percent increase over July
1998 when 2,531 were sold.
    "Toyota's new entry into the full-size truck market, the Tundra, built in
Gibson County, Ind., has contributed to total truck sales of 416, a 51 percent
increase over last July," said Paul Holdridge, general manager of the Kansas
City Region.  "Great values combined with Toyota quality, stable interest
rates, and a strong economy, have enabled our dealers to continue their record
selling pace."
    The Kentucky-built Sienna had a sales increase of 48 percent.  Toyota's
SUVs, 4Runner and RAV4, were up 40 percent and 19 percent, respectively over
July 1998.
    Combined car and truck sales totaled 3,296 a 16 percent increase over last
year's 2,836.
    The Toyota Kansas City Region includes 74 dealers in Iowa, Kansas, South
and North Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska.
