DaimlerChrysler Partners with Organic to Provide Comprehensive Online Services to Consumers
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 10 -- DaimlerChrysler
today announced that it has engaged Organic Inc., the San Francisco-based
online business building company, to enhance the automaker's Internet presence
and to build World Wide Web sites that will provide superior online services
to customers and dealers.
The DaimlerChrysler-Organic partnership is part of "Customer Connect,"
DaimlerChrysler's $500 million technology push that includes the creation of
an integrated, leading-edge Web system for developing, managing and leveraging
relationships between its Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth and Jeep(R) brands and
consumers and dealers worldwide.
"Doing business in the new millennium means building relationships between
our brands and consumers in every way that's important, and the Web is an
integral tool for forming and strengthening those alliances," said James P.
Holden, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Organic had a solid
track record of building online businesses and we wanted them in our corner as
we continue to refine and expand our use of the Internet as a strategic tool
for our brands."
DaimlerChrysler's partnership with Organic will encompass a wide range of
interactive efforts, including overall interactive strategy, customer
relationship management systems, technical and content enhancements and Web
site design and architecture.
To facilitate the working arrangement, Organic has opened a 100-person
office in Detroit.
"In Organic, we found a partner that brings an out-of-the-automotive box
sensibility to online business building that we find refreshing," said
Christine MacKenzie, Director, Customer Connect. "At the same time, Organic
has a history of creating super-functional consumer product Web sites that
track with our philosophy about the Internet: we view it as a key component in
building and supporting lifelong relationships between our brands and our
customers and dealers."
More than one million consumers each week visit Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth
and Jeep brand Web sites for information about DaimlerChrysler products and
services. Over 100,000 consumers have received vehicle availability and price
information online from Five Star-certified Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth and Jeep
dealers through Get-a-Quote, DaimlerChrysler's Internet buying service,
launched in January this year.
Organic, which has offices in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Detroit,
London, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, has been helping build online businesses since
1993. The company's services include e-commerce site development, strategic
marketing and technology consulting, online advertising and interactive design
and production.
