Delco Remy America Promotes Michael C. Alma to Vice President, Asia Pacific Operations
    ANDERSON, Ind., Aug. 10 -- Delco Remy America President
Richard L. Stanley announced today that Michael C. Alma has been promoted to
vice president - Asia Pacific Operations for Delco Remy America, Inc. (DRA).
Alma will be responsible for existing operations in Korea and India (Remy
Korea and Sahney Paris Rhone, Ltd.), and business development initiatives in
China and Japan.
    "Mike has made outstanding contributions to the successful operations of
Remy Korea, where Delco Remy recently increased its shareholdings to a level
of 81%.  The operations in the Asia Pacific region are an integral part of our
global operations," said Stanley.
    Joining DRA in 1994, Alma served as plant manager of DRA's former
Meridian, Mississippi facilities where he helped launch the new generation of
PG260 starting motors.  In 1997, he was named director of Asia Pacific
Operations and oversaw the start-up of Remy Korea.  Alma joined GM as a
manufacturing supervisor in 1972, and was promoted to various positions of
increasing responsibility.  Prior to DRA, he served in a dual executive
position for GM as board member and executive managing director of Daewoo
Automotive Components in Taegu, Korea, from 1990-1994.
    A native of Logansport, Indiana, Alma graduated from Speedway High School
in 1965, and Purdue University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
industrial management.  He served a tour of duty in the U.S. Army as captain
in the Signal Corps, and continued in reserve status until 1982.
