Alias Wavefront Wins Major Contracts From DaimlerChrysler, Hyundai And Volke EntwicklungsringAutomotive Companies Choose 3D Software for Design and Styling TORONTO, Aug. 10 -- Alias|Wavefront, a subsidiary of Silicon Graphics, Inc. , today announced it has been awarded three major contracts for the company's 3D industrial design software from leading automotive companies. DaimlerChrysler, Hyundai and Volke Entwicklungsring have made recent investments in Alias|Wavefront(TM) software. Warren Pratt, president of Alias|Wavefront, views these new contracts as strategic wins which confirm the company's position as the de facto standard in automotive styling. DaimlerChrysler has purchased Alias|Wavefront 3D conceptual design software to be used in Chrysler's automotive design studio for interior and exterior modeling of production and advanced cars and trucks, including the Viper, Jeep and RAM. Included in the contract are provisions for on-site professional services, training and maintenance. Chrysler also will use Alias|Wavefront Direct Connect for CATIA(R) to transfer files to the CATIA CAD program. Hyundai Motor Company of KyungKi-Do, Korea, has purchased eight seats of Alias AutoStudio(TM) to be used by Hyundai's Design4 team for automotive interior and exterior modeling. Hyundai will also leverage AutoStudio software's advanced animation and visualization capabilities. Volke Entwicklungsring of Wolfsburg, Germany, a leading automotive engineering supplier, has purchased 14 seats of Alias|Wavefront software. In addition, Alias|Wavefront will provide training, support and consulting services. Volke expects to see improvement in its work process in design and styling as a result of incorporating the Alias|Wavefront software.
