Best-Ever July Sales Reported By Lexus Central Area

    CHICAGO, Aug. 9 -- Lexus Central Area dealers posted best-
ever July sales of 2,710 vehicles, a five percent increase over July 1998 when
2,594 were sold.
    The RX300 sport utility vehicle continues to be the Lexus Central Area's
volume leader, accounting for 1,164 sales, a 27 percent increase over last
year.
    "A strong economy, along with competitively priced and relevant products
were key contributors to our second-best-ever month," said Nancy Davies, area
manager for the Lexus Central Area.  "We anticipate August to be equally
strong.  With special values offered during our Golden Opportunity Sales
Event, August is a great time to buy or lease a new Lexus."  With year-to-date
sales of 17,499 versus 13,169 in 1998, the Lexus Central Area is up 33 percent
over last year's record sales.
