CASCAR: Turner scores pole for Mopar Parts 300, Lee and Kennington take heat wins

7 August 1999

CALGARY, AB - Qualifying time trials and heat races for the first round of
the CASCAR Castrol Super Series National Championship were held at
Calgary's Race City Motorsport Park on Friday evening. Dodge drivers Al
Turner and DJ Kennington posted the fastest laps on the half-mile oval and
secured the front row spots for Sunday's Mopar Parts 300.

The next 24 grid positions for the 300 lap feature were determined
following a pair of 100 lap qualifying heat races, which were won by
hometown favourite Wade Lee and St. Thomas, ON's DJ Kennington. Each won
their respective heats in dominant fashion. The Final Qualifiers' race on
Saturday evening at Race City will set the grid for Sunday.
