North American Rolls-Royce and Bentley Sales Continue to IncreaseAUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 6 -- Sales of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars in North America in July rose 15 percent compared to the same month last year, continuing the steady increase for this year. The company previously reported that its 1999 first half sales improved by 84.7 percent. The President of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Inc., Mr. Alasdair Stewart, said: "I believe our new advertising campaign, plus a reorganization which has established strong regional representation has been a major contributor to these results, but I must also recognize the efforts of dealers in our major markets in the North East, Florida and California." Mr. Stewart continued: "However, while this trend is very encouraging, we still have a lot to do in raising awareness of Rolls-Royce and Bentley in areas outside the key markets." The U.S. sales rise has fuelled an overall increase worldwide of 13.2 percent for the first six months. Sales in Continental Europe rose by 34 percent, whilst business in Japan grew by 10.3 percent, despite continuing difficulties in the region. Mr. Stewart added: "In North America our new models, the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph and Bentley Arnage are helping us satisfy increasing customer demand for the unique ownership experience which our cars represent."
