Isuzu Continues Record-Breaking Sales Trend for 1999
CERRITOS, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--Aug. 5, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) announced the second-highest July commercial- vehicle retail sales month in the company's history. The strong July numbers further contribute to a 32 percent increase over 1998 year-to-date sales figures for the commercial- vehicle division.
Leading the sales charge was the popular NPR Class 3-4 low cab forward trucks. Sales figures for both the diesel- and gas-powered versions were up an impressive 21 percent and 29 percent, respectively, over the 1998 year-to-date figures. The Class 5 NQR continued to establish its presence in the Class 5 market, posting a sixfold increase over 1998 figures.
The end result has AIMI maintaining its dominance of the Class 3-7 import marketplace, with Isuzu-built product accounting for almost 70 percent of retail sales.
"We are very excited to see the continued sales success across our product lineup," said Jim Underwood, senior vice president, chief operating officer, Commercial Vehicle.
