Pennzoil-Quaker State Company Names Carlos T. Alcantara President of International Operations

    HOUSTON, Aug. 5 -- Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
announced today that Carlos T. Alcantara has joined the company as president
of international operations.  Alcantara will be responsible for the expansion
of the company's international business and positioning Pennzoil-Quaker State
Company as a world leader in vehicle care and maintenance products.  He will
report directly to James J. Postl, president and chief operating officer.
    Alcantara has 28 years of international business management experience.
During his seven-year career at The Clorox Company, he held various senior
management positions focused on developing a strategic plan and growing the
company's international market.  Prior to joining Clorox, Alcantara spent
20 years with Procter & Gamble, holding various sales, marketing and business
management positions around the world.
    Alcantara, a native of Peru, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Business Administration from the University of the Pacific in 1971 and an MBA
from Xavier University in 1991.

building an international business," said Pennzoil-Quaker State President and
Chief Operating Officer James J. Postl.  "We know that the international
marketplace poses an enormous opportunity with automotive product sales of
some $20-$25 billion annually.  Carlos will play an important role in our
effort to dramatically grow Pennzoil-Quaker State Company's share of that
international business."
