Badawy Joins TRW Chassis Systems as Vice President of Engineering
    STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., Aug. 5 -- Dr. Aly Badawy has joined
TRW as vice president of engineering for its Chassis Systems business, located
in Sterling Heights, Mich.  In his new position, Badawy -- who specializes in
product development, prototype design, manufacturing and systems engineering
-- will be responsible for product engineering, research and development on a
global basis.
    Most recently, Badawy served as director of research and development and
chief engineer of electric power systems (EPS) at Delphi Saginaw Steering
Systems -- formerly General Motors Corp. -- in Saginaw, Mich.  In this
position, he led the development of EPS control algorithms, systems
engineering, electrical systems, brushless motors and sensors.
    Before joining GM, Badawy worked as superintendent of manufacturing
engineering for New Departure Hyatt's Wheel Bearing Division in Sandusky,
Ohio, from 1985 to 1989.  Previously, he was principal research scientist for
Battelle Columbus Laboratories in Ohio.
    Badawy is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers and ASM International -- formerly the American Society
for Metal.  He received a bachelor's degree in marine engineering and naval
architecture from Alexandria University in Egypt, and his master's degree and
doctorate in mechanical engineering from McMaster University in Hamilton,
Ontario, Canada.
