Tenneco Automotive President Frissora to be CEO When Company Becomes Independent, Heads Three-Year Sponsorship of Grand Prix of Detroit
MONROE, Mich.--Aug. 4, 1999--Tenneco Automotive President Mark P. Frissora has been appointed chief executive officer of the $3.2 billion global automotive parts business, effective when Tenneco Automotive and Tenneco Packaging become separated, which is expected to occur in the fall. At that time, Frissora, 43, will assume leadership of the newly independent, publicly traded company. Frissora also is heading up Tenneco Automotive's sponsorship of the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, set for Belle Isle August 8, and all during race week.Tenneco Automotive has assumed title sponsorship of the Grand Prix, now known as the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, for at least three years, through 2001. Grand Prix race sponsorship is a major moment for Tenneco Automotive, as the company advances its technology position to provide value differentiated ride control and exhaust products and services to its original equipment (OE) and aftermarket customers.
"Our three-year commitment to the Grand Prix of Detroit reflects our commitment to the city of Detroit, the greater Detroit metropolitan area and southeastern Michigan, and our customers in the automotive and transportation industries in Detroit and around the world," Frissora said.
Frissora, named president of Tenneco Automotive in April, previously was senior vice president and general manager of Tenneco Automotive's worldwide original equipment business. With 22 years of automotive experience, Frissora joined Tenneco in 1996. Under his guidance, Tenneco Automotive's original equipment business has grown 70 percent, from $1.15 billion in 1996 to $2 billion in 1998.
Prior to joining Tenneco Automotive as vice president of OE sales and engineering for Walker Manufacturing, the company's exhaust business, he had been vice president North American marketing, sales and distribution for Aeroquip-Vickers Corporation.
Frissora holds a B.A. degree from Ohio State University and has completed advanced studies at both the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and the Thunderbird International School of Management. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers, Inc.
