Viasystems Tyneside Facilities Receive BSI Technology Approval

LONDON--Aug. 4, 1999--Viasystems North Tyneside and Viasystems South Tyneside, printed circuit board manufacturers, have just secured a national first by gaining a prestigious quality award.
The national regulatory body, British Standards Institute, awarded Technology Approval to both Viasystems factories located in North and South Tyneside. Viasystems is the first printed circuit board manufacturer to gain this accolade.
Technology Approval is based entirely upon the effective use of continuous improvement techniques, the development of process controls, and the proactive use of process data to improve product quality and the process performance. This award comes on top of existing capability approvals from the British and European Standards Authorities.
"Our success at achieving Technology Approval exemplifies the hard work and dedication of the Viasystems employees in the Tyneside facilities," said Craig McInnes, operations director. "All manufacturing processes are continuously reviewed for potential improvement in quality and efficiency as we endeavor to produce a world-class product."
Jeffrey L. Davis, president Viasystems-Europe, explained, "This award is very important to the company and all the employees. Gaining recognition for our continued focus on technology and its impact on quality and performance further emphasizes Viasystems' commitment to customer satisfaction."
Viasystems employs over 2,000 people at its Tyneside facilities. Based in St. Louis, Mo., Viasystems Group, Inc. is one of the world's largest independent manufacturers of printed circuit boards and value-added backplane assemblies and services. The company operates manufacturing facilities worldwide, supplying customers in a variety of markets that include the telecommunications, computer, automotive, military, consumer electronics, industrial, medical, and instrumentation industries.
