AMA: Second Women & Motorcycling Conference set for July , 2000
5 August 1999
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The second American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Woman & Motorcycling Conference -- a four-day national gathering for and about women motorcyclists -- is set for July 13-16 on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. The first conference presented by the AMA in 1997 drew more than 400 participants from all over the country. Its widely praised success has been attributed to the partnership of the AMA, women motorcyclists and organizations such as Women on Wheels, Women in the Wind and the Motor Maids. For the 2000 event, the AMA expects more than 1,000 motorcyclists, and current plans call for an extensive slate of workshops addressing issues of concern for women in motorcycling, along with ample social time and chances to enjoy the outstanding motorcycling roads of hilly southeastern Ohio. For more information about the conference, contact the AMA at (614) 856-1900; visit AMADirectlink at www.ama-cycle.org; or write to Women & Motorcycling 2000, AMA, 13515 Yarmouth Dr., Pickerington OH 43147. For tourism information, contact the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau at (800) 878-9767, or visit its website at www.athensohio.com. The AMA also invites industry representatives to become involved in this historic event.
