Federal-Mogul Recognized by General Motors as a Supplier of the Year

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 4 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation's
, Waupun, Wisconsin manufacturing facility has been recognized by
General Motors as a Supplier of the Year.
    "We are truly honored to be selected as a Supplier of the Year by General
Motors, a recognition achieved previously by two other Federal-Mogul
locations," said Gordon Ulsh, president and chief operating officer.  "I am
proud of the Waupun team as they worked together to exceed GM's expectations.
I recognize the high standards of performance required to win this award and I
commend their efforts of providing General Motors with the highest quality
products and services in what must be a true partnership."
    Federal-Mogul was nominated by its GM buyer and is one of 144 worldwide
winners out of 30,000 suppliers.  This is the seventh year General Motors has
recognized its suppliers with an award that is based on the supplier's
quality, service, technology and price.
    "This award is the culmination of years of working with General Motors in
a supplier-customer team relationship," said Phil Schwartz, director of
operations in Waupun.  "We strove to achieve a balance between quality and
productivity.  Our employees have proven that if they work together their
accomplishments can reach the highest level of customer satisfaction as
signified by this award."
    The Waupun facility uses state-of-the-art research, design, development
and engine testing in providing valve seat inserts and valve guides for
automotive, heavy-duty and small air-cooled engines in North America.  The
investment in product capability has led Federal-Mogul to receive the highest
customer quality ratings and the plant is certified for ISO 9001, ISO 14001
and QS 9000 quality standards.
