Jaguar Cars Posts All-Time Record

    MAHWAH, N.J., Aug. 3 -- Jaguar Cars today announced that it
has achieved its third consecutive month of all-time record sales results in
the United States.  The company sold 3,805 cars in July, up 104 percent
compared with the same month last year and  78 percent better than Jaguar's
best July in 1986.
    For the month, XJ Series sedan sales totaled 1,211, XK8 sports car sales
were 486 and sales of the all-new S-TYPE sedan were 2,108.  Total year-to-date
sales were 16,895, up 35 percent compared with the first seven months of 1998,
making this the best ever start for a calendar year.
    "Posting another sales record is a testament from our customers that
Jaguar is on its way to becoming a leader in the luxury marketplace," said
Michael H. Dale, president of Jaguar North America.  "In addition, our
performance demonstrates the hard work and the dedication of Jaguar employees
and dealers.  We're on our way to turning in a great year."
    Adding to Jaguar's sales news, today Dale accepted the award for top
ranking in the 1999  J.D. Power and Associates Sales Satisfaction Study.  The
study, in which Jaguar tied with Volvo and Cadillac for first place, ranks
overall customer satisfaction with the new-vehicle sales experience.
