Nissan North America, Inc. Reports Highest Total Volume Sales Since March 1997GARDENA, Calif., Aug. 3 -- The Nissan Division posted July sales of 65,049 units, an increase of 14.3 percent over last month, marking the eighth consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA), reported that Nissan and Infiniti Divisions had the highest volume of sales in July since March of 1997 with total July sales of 71,620. "Our incentive spending is down this year by almost 40 percent compared to last July and we're still selling more cars," said Jed Connelly, Vice President and General Manager, Nissan Division. "Our continued strong sales show that consumers are coming into showrooms for the product -- that's a much smarter way to do business." Strong sales of the all-new Nissan Crew Cab and Xterra SUV brought Nissan's total truck sales to 28,738 units in July, a 53.7 percent increase versus a year ago marking the most successful truck sales month since March 1997. The Crew Cab sold 2,999 units, accounting for 30.0 percent of total Frontier sales. The segment-busting Xterra continues to be one of the fastest sellers in Nissan history posting sales of 7,581 units, an increase of 28.3 percent over last month. Pathfinder totaled sales of 6,556 units, up 17.7 percent over last year. The Nissan Quest maintained its strong sales momentum with July sales totaling 4,591 units, up 39.5 percent over last year. Nissan's flagship sedan, the Maxima, continues to strengthen its position as the top-selling import V-6 sedan with 14,499 units sold in July, showing a 21.4 percent increase versus last month. The Altima sedan, Nissan's volume sales leader, reported July sales of 15,572, down 3.3 percent versus last year. The Sentra totaled sales of 6,196 units in July, an increase of 10.7 percent over last month. Nissan sold 40,335 units produced in the United States during the month of July. Nissan North America employs more than 70,000 people in the U.S., approximately 12,000 directly and 58,000 at 1,250 Nissan and Infiniti Retailers nationwide.
