Hyundai July Sales Soar Upward 104%, Setting Another 10-Year Record; Best Sales Month for Elantra in Vehicle's History

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Aug. 3 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 17,958 vehicles for the month of July and 88,898
vehicles for the first seven months of 1999.
    "This is our best July sales performance in 10 years with a 104% jump in
sales over the same month last year," said Hyundai Motor America's Vice
President of Sales, Robert Cosmai.  "Year-to-date our sales are up 64%
compared to last year."
    "With sales of 9,106 units, July was the best sales month in the history
of the Elantra model -- a 145% increase over the same month last year.  Our
flagship Sonata is also seeing big sales increases, showing a 245% increase
over the same month last year," said Cosmai.
    "Of course, having America's best warranty, the Hyundai Advantage, is
helping to bring customers into Hyundai showrooms," Cosmai said.  "Hyundai
buyers are covered by a 10-year/100,000 powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000
mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 6-year/100,000-mile perforation warranty and
5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection," Cosmai added.
