Saab Leads All European Imports With A 42 Percent Year-To-Date Sales Increase
                  Saab's U.S. July Sales of 4,014 Units Best
                     For Swedish Importer Since June 1992

    NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 3 -- Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S.
importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of
4,014 units during July 1999, a 29 percent increase over July 1998 sales
(3,106 units).  Through the first seven months of 1999, Saab leads all
European automotive imports with a year-to-date sales increase of 42.4 percent
over the same period last year (22,771 vs. 15,995).
    Sales of the expanded Saab 9-5 line continue to grow as a total of
1,752 units were retailed in July -- an 84.8 percent increase compared to the
948 units sold in July 1998.  Included in this total are sales of the new
9-5 Wagon, which has posted significant monthly sales increases since its
introduction in April. Saab sold 500 9-5 Wagons in July, compared to 398 units
in June and 298 units in May. The new 9-5 Wagon combines Saab's performance
and safety attributes with real-world versatility features like
CargoTracks(TM), an available sliding load floor and nearly 73 cubic feet of
cargo room with the rear seats folded down.
    July also proved to be another strong sales month for the Saab 9-3
Convertible.  Saab sold 855 9-3 Convertible units in July, which represents a
24% increase compared to the 688 convertibles sold in July 1998.
