BEI Technologies Declares Quarterly Dividend
    SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 3 -- The Board of Directors of BEI
Technologies, Inc. today announced its eighth consecutive
quarterly dividend of two cents per share.
    The dividend was declared August 3, 1999 and is payable September 2, 1999
to shareholders of record August 18, 1999.
    BEI Technologies and its subsidiaries were spun-off from their parent, BEI
Electronics, Inc., at the end of September 1997 by distribution of the
outstanding stock of BEI Technologies to the stockholders of BEI Electronics.
BEI Technologies' former parent, BEI Electronics, paid 36 consecutive
quarterly dividends from its initial public offering in 1989 through September
1997.
    BEI Technologies, Inc., through its principal subsidiary, BEI Sensors &
Systems Company, Inc. is an established manufacturer of electronic sensors,
motors, actuators and motion control products used for factory and office
automation, medical equipment, military, aviation and space systems, and
transportation equipment including automobiles, trucks and off-road equipment.
The Company's micromachined quartz yaw rate sensors are used in advanced
vehicle stability control systems and a significant increase in the production
of those sensors has been in progress since the middle of 1998.  BEI also
manufactures electronic steering wheel position sensors, seat-memory modules,
throttle position and pressure sensors and other devices used in automotive
