Davis Named President of TI Group Automotive Systems N.A.WARREN, Mich., Aug. 3 -- D. James Davis has been named president of TI Group Automotive Systems -- North America, according to Chief Executive Allan Welsh. Davis joined the UK-based TI Group in 1997 as president of Bundy North America. He previously had been president of Glacier-Vandervell's North American operations. The auto industry's newest tier one supplier, TI Group Automotive Systems was formed after TI Group's recent $570-million acquisition of Walbro Corporation. "Jim Davis is an expert in lean manufacturing, production line systems and team building," Welsh said. "His international experience and the contributions he's already made at Bundy make him the ideal choice to lead TI Group Automotive Systems in North America." Davis began his automotive career as a metallurgical engineer for Dayton Malleable in Ohio. He joined Federal Mogul in 1980 and went on to hold management positions in metallurgy, quality and manufacturing. In 1987, he was appointed general manager of Federal Mogul's Lighting and Electrical Division. He was named vice president of Ball Bearing Operations in 1991 and two years later became vice president of Chassis Operations. In 1995, he Joined T & N, plc, headquartered in Manchester, England, as North American president of Glacier-Vandervell, Inc. A native of Ironton, Ohio, Davis has a bachelor's degree in metallurgy and materials science engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He lives with his wife and family in Northville, MI.
