Audi Sales Up 47.3 Percent for July and 39.9 Percent Year-to-Date - Second Best July Ever
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 2 -- Audi of America, Inc. today
announced its second best July sales in the U.S. in its history with 5,965
automobiles sold, a 47.3 percent increase over the same month last year when
sales were 4,050. These results mark Audi's best July since 1985 and best
year-to-date since 1986 (1999 year-to-date sales are 34,217 versus 24,460 last
year). This accomplishment is a 39.9 percent increase over last year's year-
to-date pace.
    Audi's A4, A6 and A8 model ranges each recorded strong double-digit
growth. A4 sedan and Avant sales increased 27 percent and 26 percent
respectively. A6 sedan sales increased a robust 63 percent at the same time
that A6 Avant sales moved up 37.6 percent. Audi's all-aluminum flagship, the
A8, enjoyed a sales increase of 32.9 percent.
With limited supply, Audi sold 458 of its new TT coupes in July. Since
going on sale, Audi has sold 2,197 of these authentic German sports cars, the
birth of Audi's sports car tradition.
Audi has displayed this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase for
over four years, or 54 of the last 56 months.
