Hynes Named President and General Manager of Gulf States Toyota
HOUSTON--(AutomotiveWire)--July 30, 1999--Gulf States Toyota Inc. (GST) has named Thomas "Toby" N. Hynes president and general manager, to oversee the company's general operations in its five-state region.Prior to joining GST, Hynes was president and chief operating officer of Ford Motor Company's Primus Financial division, a position he held since November 1995. Hynes began his career in the industry at Ford Motor Company in 1969. He had a 30-year career at Ford where he held a variety of key positions in sales and operations, including regional manager for both Ford and Lincoln-Mercury divisions.
Hynes will report to Dan Friedkin, president of The Friedkin Companies, the parent company of GST.
"Toby joins us at a time when the GST family has established sales, dealer and market leadership momentum. Under Toby's skilled leadership, I am confident that the GST management team will further enhance its performance in the future," said Friedkin.
Hynes received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich., and a master's in business administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in Stanford, Calif.
Hynes's appointment is effective Aug. 1, 1999.
GST, based in Houston, is the independent Toyota distributor serving 139 dealers in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. GST introduced the first Toyotas into the region in 1969.
