API Motion Announces Linear Motor Sale & Technology Agreement
    BUFFALO, N.Y., July 29 -- American Precision Industries Inc.,
API, announced that its subsidiary, API Motion Inc. signed a
comprehensive Sales and Technology Agreement with praTEC GmbH of Rohr, Germany
that provides API Motion the exclusive marketing rights to praTEC's product
lines.  praTEC manufactures brushless linear servo motors, rotary direct drive
brushless motors and complementary electronic drives for the motors.
    The Agreement, jointly announced by Jurgen Weyh, Managing Director of
praTEC GmbH, and Richard Warzala, President of API Motion Inc., also provides
for the continuing joint development of a direct drive motion product line
utilizing the collective expertise of both companies.  praTEC has been
designing and manufacturing linear and rotary direct drive motor and drive
products for more than 10 years, and API Motion has more than 20 years
experience in the development and manufacture of a wide range of
electromagnetic and electronic motion control devices.
    The multi-year agreement provides API Motion the right to sell praTEC's
current and future products worldwide with exclusivity specifically for linear
motors everywhere but in Europe.  API Motion will market, sell and support the
praTEC products through its network of sales companies and independent
distributors.  API Motion previewed the praTEC products at the recent Semicon
West 99 exhibition in San Jose, CA, where they generated intense interest
among engineers from a number of semiconductor equipment manufacturers.
"Linear motors have gained tremendous popularity in recent years as a
desirable means of effecting precision linear actuation, and with this
agreement API Motion is now able to offer this key motor technology to our
customers," stated Richard Warzala, President of API Motion.
With the addition of praTEC's products, API Motion now has one of the broadest
and most comprehensive motion control offerings in the industry.

    American Precision Industries Inc., which employs over 2,000 people
worldwide, is a multi-domestic, diversified manufacturing company which
produces products for the motion control and heat transfer industries.  Its
subsidiary, API Motion Inc., provides precision motion control solutions with
product lines that include servo and stepper motors, micromotors, drives,
