American Tire Corporation Announces Personnel Change

    BOULDER CITY, Nev., July 28 -- Richard A. Steinke, Chairman
of the Board of Directors of American Tire Corporation
(OTC Bulletin Board: ATYR) announced today that effective July 27, 1999, Roger
A. Fleming has been relieved from employment as President and Chief Operating
Officer of the Company.  The Company has not named a replacement to succeed
Mr. Fleming, who remains a member of the Company's Board of Directors.  Until
such time as a replacement has been named, John Hoffman, the company's Chief
Executive Officer will assume operating responsibilities.
