Federal-Mogul Employees Host Big Brothers Big Sisters For a Day at the Race Track

Federal-Mogul Employees Host Big Brothers Big Sisters For a Day at the Race Track
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 28 -- Instead of hearing the roar of
race engines on Wednesday, August 4, the sound of excited children's voices
will be heard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana. As
a preview to the Brickyard 400, Federal-Mogul employees are hosting kid's day
at the Speedway for thirty children, ages 8-16, from Big Brothers Big Sisters
of America and Big Sisters of Central Indiana.
Attending the event will be ten girls and ten boys with their big brothers
and their big sisters along with ten children from the waiting list. These
ten children will be matched for the day with five Federal-Mogul employees and
five Jasper Engine and Transmission employees.
The children will have the opportunity to see Winston Cup racing elements
up close and personal. They will meet Robert Pressley, driver of the Jasper
Engine/Federal-Mogul #77 racecar, who will sign autographs from 3 to 4 p.m.
and have their pictures taken as they experience the feel of sitting inside a
racecar. For a behind the scenes look at racing, they will have a chance to
tour the Indianapolis Speedway museum, pit row and the garages. The children
will leave with fond memories of the day, new friends and their own replica of
#77 race car.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provide children-at-risk a one-to-one mentoring
relationship with an adult volunteer. A mentor relationship provides a child
with a sense of belonging, enhanced communication skills and increased self-
confidence. These organizations go to the root cause of our community and
social problems today.
Federal-Mogul actively supports year round activities by employee
volunteers and is proud to be a corporate partner supporting Big Brothers Big
Sisters nationwide as it strives to reach more children with the adult
friendship and guidance that they need to grow.
