Trident Automotive Lighting Division Now Trident Lighting, LLC

KENTWOOD, Mich.--(AutomotiveWire)--July 23, 1999--In June, Trident Lighting, LLC, a new, privately owned tier-two automotive lighting supplier, replaced the former tier-one supplier, Trident Automotive, Inc.`s Lighting Division. According to Michael Evans, General Manager of Trident's former Lighting Division and now President and CEO of the new company, retention of experienced, well-trained personnel and senior management of the former Lighting Division, as well as the return of several former associates, has been the key to the new company's early success. It's enabled the new company to design and produce either high- or low-volume lighting components or assemblies for its tier-one partners.
According to Evans, "To define a market in the shrinking automotive supplier base, Trident Lighting is creating a niche by retaining tier-one capabilities while focusing on a commitment to exterior lighting in the tier-two automotive market and expanding into non-automotive vehicle markets. To date, this focus and commitment has been well received by our targeted customer base."
The new company is assisting tier-one automotive suppliers with capacity constrained production projects, "unwanted" low- or high-volume production jobs, service part components and assemblies, and export modifications. In addition to automotive lighting, the new company plans to supply specially designed and styled lighting for trucks, motorcycles and off-road vehicles.
Trident Lighting, LLC, with more than two hundred employees at its 300,000 sq. ft. facility in Kentwood, Michigan, does thermoplastic and thermoset molding, in-chamber vacuum metalizing, robotic gluing, lens hardcoating, automated and hand spray painting and hot stamp, vibration and ultrasonic welding. Design capabilities include Catia and Trace-Pro, lens and VF reflector optics and CAD evaluation of light beam patterns.

The new company retains its QS-9000 and ISO- certification and has already passed its first surveillance audit to QS-9000 third edition as Trident Lighting, LLC.
