     New York's Museum of Modern Art, continuing its rich tradition of
automobile exhibitions, presents "Different Roads: Automobiles for the
Next Century." On view in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture
Garden from July 22 to September 21, 1999, it presents nine
contemporary automobiles that embody fresh approaches to automobile
design. The exhibition previews the next generation of automobiles,
with nine contemporary vehicles manufactured in response to major
social, economic, and environmental conditions facing the consumer and
