W. Wayne Booker Elected to the Hertz Corporation Board of Directors
    PARK RIDGE, N.J., July 21 -- The Hertz Corporation
, the world's largest car rental company and a leading construction
and industrial equipment rental business, announced today the election of W.
Wayne Booker, Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Ford Motor Company,
to its Board of Directors.  Hertz also acknowledged the resignation from its
Board of John M. Devine, who will be retiring from Ford Motor Company later
this year.  Mr. Devine served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer at Ford.
    Mr. Booker, who joined Ford in 1959, has held a number of executive
positions with the auto manufacturer.  In 1986, he was named
Director-President of Ford Brazil and, the following year, Director-Executive
Vice President of Autolatina Limitada, the holding company for Ford's joint
venture with Volkswagen in Brazil and Argentina.  In 1988, he was appointed
Executive Director, Latin American Automotive Operations for Ford.  In 1989,
he was named a company Vice President and, in 1996, Vice Chairman.
    A graduate of Purdue University, Mr. Booker holds a bachelor's degree in
economics.
